I recommended you gThumb. But if you're an advanced photographer, then you should keep your originals and use shotwell.

Installation

apt-get install gthumb


Usage You have to configure your application. Go to: Edit > Preferences

  • General tab
    • On startup go to "Pictures" (/home/myUser/Pictures)
  • Browser tab
    • Caption: Description, date, Name, title
  • Viewer tab
    • Zoom quality: High
